Filipinos deal with some of the worst corruption in their country. I’ve been travelling Southeast Asia, and I still haven’t visited the Philippines yet. I’ve had friends in Laos and here in Cambodia. They speak good English, are happy, caring, and seem to have very good logic.
But in other Southeast Asian countries, they are often exploited and given poor working conditions. I find it difficult to understand, they have better logic, a caring and often honest nature, and are a real asset to any business. They bring strong language skills, yet they’re considered lower class and treated more poorly than locals.
To me, there is no logic in this, and no logic in staying in Southeast Asia, they deserve better. I hope to visit one day to see what it’s all about.
Filipinas are the backbone of many healthcare sectors around the world, and I’m grateful to have them as friends on my journeys through Southeast Asia. They’re great to talk to, especially when everyone in Laos runs away because of English.
