Watching The World
Coffee and cultural observation as mindfulness, discovered in the markets of Cambodia.
Watching the world, if only I had discovered this earlier in Laos and Vietnam. Back then, I still struggled to force myself into fifteen minutes of meditation while traveling and living abroad. Now all I do is dedicate time to coffee, sitting, and watching local life.
Why get stressed searching for the perfect place to sit when I can be here, watching the world move? I could have paid more attention to the people of Vietnam and Laos, but now I’ve truly discovered this in Cambodia, in the Phsar local markets. I did this naturally in Laos, but here in Cambodia I can really lean into it, coffee and cultural observation as mindfulness.
I have the opportunity to do this in a way many others don’t, and I’m grateful for that.
